Last year, some of my closest friends asked me i f I wanted to sign up for a float therapy session. Float therapy is where you lay down in a 200 gallon pool filled with 1,200 lbs of Epsom salt, which actually lifts your back from the bottom of the pool. Each float session is an hour long which allows you to sit with your thoughts and meditate. This was a really unique experience so I decided to write a chart about the feeling of floating in water. You can hear long, disorienting trombone glissandi in the beginning followed by a free, floating melody. As the chart progresses, the harmony becomes more dissonant to symbolize what it is like to sit with your thoughts for that long. The chart ends with a bright major 13 (#11) chord because overall it was a pleasant experience, even if it was a little strange and mystical. This is Hydroplaning.
